Churchblaze Group Limited; Blazing a Path Forward for Tech Entrepreneurship in Kenya

Nairobi-based social networking and e-commerce innovators lead with quality

Kenya, a country of about 45 million people situated along the African coast of the Indian Ocean, is home to the largest economy by GDP in the regions of both East and Central Africa. The country has well-developed infrastructure, and has significant activity in agriculture, mining, manufacturing, tourism, energy, and financial services, making it a strongly diversified market economy. Growth prospects continue to be strong, with GDP growth regularly eclipsing 5% annually.

Kenya’s capital and largest city, Nairobi is the major economic hub of the country and the region, and is widely considered to be the center of the communications, finance, and tech industries in Central and East Africa. Many international organizations with activities in Africa make their headquarters here as well, including the United Nations Environment Programme. Its stock exchange, the NSE, is among the biggest in Africa.

Another positive marker for the country is the fact that its population is among the most computer literate in all of Africa, especially the younger generations. It has the highest internet penetration rate in the continent, with almost 70% of Kenyans online. This has opened the door for the creation of the kinds of internet companies that have been proliferating in the United States and Europe, but with special focus on Kenya’s culture and market needs. Churchblaze Group Limited, a holding company of internet companies from Nairobi, is leading the charge in establishing an e-commerce industry in Kenya.

The Churchblaze Group of companies is headlined by its namesake social networking site, Churchblaze.com, which is aimed at connecting Christians to one another globally with the additional functionality of a church management system. The launch of the Churchblaze social network was coeval with the founding of the company in July, 2014. Other subsidiaries of the growing Churchblaze family include the in-development site Blaze Traders (blazetraders.com), an e-commerce platform for business-to-business and business-to-consumer sales; Homestay Safari, a home-sharing platform; and Nunur, Churchblaze group’s latest venture, which utilizes an innovative geo-location system to profile chain and grocery stores in the area and allow users to shop their stocks online and receive delivery 24 hours per day.

The company is headed by young entrepreneur Mr. Isaac Muthui Mwendwa, who is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of the Group. This award-winning, accomplished businessman has taken his training and experience in IT and combined it with a passion for starting and growing businesses to lead his young company towards growth and expansion.
